Allergic to rubber?

Please do not use The Keeper - it is made of natural gum from the rubber tree.

Allergy symptoms can include itching or stinging feelings, which generally get worse over time.

If you find the first period comfortable, the next less so, the following one worse... stop using The Keeper. This is a classic "allergy response" and you should contact your supplier to arrange a refund. Please note that The Keeper must be returned within 90 days of purchase, and a refund is only given where the tab has not been completely removed.

Is there an alternative for women allergic to rubber?

Yes! There are menstrual cups made of silicon. Sustainable Families stock the Lunette, the only silicon one registered for sale in Australia.

There are other brands available outside Australia, but unfortunately the following are NOT registered with the Therapeutic Goods Administration in Australia at this time, so it is not legal to SELL them within Australia. However there is no reason why an individual cannot BUY them legally from overseas.

• The Keeper (the parent company sell a silicon cup in North America as well as the rubber one available in Australia
• Diva Cup - USA
• Mooncup - UK
• Ladycup - Czech Republic - they have models in natural silicon as well as in bright colours!

But why order one from overseas when you can buy one in Australia?

Please support the companies who have gone to the trouble (and expense) to be registered here in Australia so we can access menstrual cups locally :). Registration is an involved process and includes an inspection of the manufacturing plant as well as annual costs.

Choose the Keeper (rubber) or the Lunette (silicon).
